Sobermate 3 FAQS
How do I take a test with the Sobermate S3?
Insert a mouthpiece, then press the power button. The device warms up and counts down. When the countdown reaches 0, it double beeps and shows “BLOW”. Take a deep breath and blow slowly and steadily into the mouthpiece. Only stop when you hear the double beep again. Your estimated BAC shows after a few seconds and stays on screen for 10 seconds.
How long should I wait after eating, drinking or smoking before I test?
Wait at least 30 minutes. Alcohol left in your mouth, including from alcohol-based mouthwash, can affect the result and takes about 30 minutes to clear.
How do I change the measurement unit?
Press the power button to switch the S3 on. While it’s counting down, press the power button 5 times. The screen shows “unit” with the current unit below it. Press the power button until you reach the unit you want (%BAC, mg/L, mg/100mL or ‰), then hold the button for 2 seconds to save. The device finishes counting down and goes into test mode.
How often does my S3 need to be calibrated?
Every 12 months or every 500 tests, whichever comes first. When the display shows “500”, the device has reached its test limit and needs to be sent back for calibration.
Why should I wait and test again if my result is close to my limit?
Your blood alcohol level can keep rising for up to 2 hours after you stop drinking. If your result is close to your limit, wait 30 minutes and test again. It can also take 10 hours or more for your level to return to zero after a high reading, so test again later in the day or the next morning if you’ve been drinking heavily.
Is the S3 covered by a warranty?
Yes, it has a 1 year warranty from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship or parts. Keep your receipt as proof of purchase. You can also register your device at my.andatech.com.au to activate your warranty and get calibration reminders.
